CONGRATULATIONS TRIPLE J!

The NORAD Hockey League season came to an end last night as Triple J defeated HollowBrook Dental in the championship game. HollowBrook jumped out to an early lead as Hunter Winegarner hammered home a one-timer from Nathan Watts to start the scoring in the first period. The second and most of the third period belonged to the goalies, as Rick Haneke and Jared Wolf matched save for save to keep the game 1-0. In the final minutes of regulation however, HollowBrook took a penalty that would prove to be very costly as Matt Lee scored on a rebound for Triple J to tie things up and send the game into overtime. The overtime period was very cautious as neither team wanted to make the big mistake, but with under a minute remaining, a puck bounced out to the high slot where Sam Downs sealed the game for Triple J with a backhand goal.

The NORAD Championship

HollowBrook Dental vs. Triple J to Battle for the Cup

Coming out of last Sunday’s Frozen Four faceoff, the stage is officially set for a heavyweight showdown, as defending champions HollowBrook Dental will face off against Triple J in a battle for the 2025 Cup.

The road to the championship wasn’t without drama. Triple J came out firing in the opening Frozen Four game, dispatching Nelson with a high-octane 7–4 victory that sent a clear message: they’re here to win. In Game 2, HollowBrook Dental showed their championship pedigree, shutting down Platinum in a disciplined 4–2 win to punch their ticket to yet another final.

This year’s final pits two dynasties with serious hardware in their history. HollowBrook, the reigning 2024 champions, are looking to cement their dominance with what would be their sixth title in eight years—a near-unprecedented run of success. On the other side, Triple J enters hungry for their third championship in seven seasons, hoping to reassert themselves as one of the league’s elite programs.

Two proud franchises. One championship on the line. Expect fireworks!

The NORAD Frozen Four

After the final week of the NORAD postseason round-robin, the NORAD Frozen Four is set. HollowBrook Dental claimed the #1 seed after going 2-0 in the round-robin and beating OS Offices and the OUTCAN Outlaws by a total of 13 goals. The #2 seed will be Triple J after they also went 2-0, defeating AMOS and World Orphans by a total of 5 goals. Nelson & Company was the third team to go 2-0 and they will be the #3 seed after beating Platinum Group and Ace by a total of 4 goals. The wild card (#4 seed) will be Platinum Group. Platinum Group makes the cut after going 1-1, but winning the tie breaker over AMOS and OS Offices with a +9 goal differential.

The semi-final games take place this Sunday (April 13th) at 4:00pm and 5:15pm. The winners of these two games will play for the NORAD Championship on Sunday, April 27th at 4:00pm. The NORAD End-of-Season party will be held during the Championship game, in the Chapman Room at Ed Robson Arena, and continue through the night until around 9:00pm. Food and Drink tickets will be provided. There will be an RSVP link for the party sent out soon. We hope to see everyone at the championship game and End-of-Season Party!

The NORAD Post-Season

The NORAD Post-Season is almost here. Your Captain/Sponsor should have already filled you in on what the post-season will look like this year, but for those who do not know, here it is…

After we finish up the regular season, we will go into a round-robin. There will be three groups of three and those groups will be…

Division 1 – #1 seed, #6 seed, #9 seed

Division 2 – #2 seed, #5 seed, #8 seed

Division 3 – #3 seed, #4 seed, #7 seed

We will take the winner of each division and a wild-card (decided by tie-breakers if necessary) into a final four. Teams will get 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. These are the round-robin tie breakers:

1. Head-to-head record.

2. Number of wins.

3. Goal differential.

4. Goals scored.

5. Goals against.

5. Least amount of penalty minutes.

7. Highest seed.

Here are some reminders/rules…

If there is a two goal or less differential, the final two minutes will be stop-clock.

Teams are not allowed to have sub skaters in the postseason and you only need 5 skaters and a goalie to play.

If there is a tie in the semi-finals or championship, we will run a 3:00 OT period. It will be 4 vs 4, then we will go into a SUDDEN DEATH shootout.

The one thing that can derail this schedule is if CC hosts a playoff round (as they have the last two years) and the best of three series goes to game three which would be on a Sunday. In that event, everything will be pushed back by one week.

3/23 – 3 games (6vs9, 5vs8, 4vs7)

3/30 – 3 games (1vs9, 2vs8, 3vs7)

4/6 – 3 games (1vs6, 2vs5, 3vs4)

4/13 – 2 games (semi-finals)

4/20 – EASTER

4/27 – 1 game (championship)

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a very Happy New Year to all!

As a festive reminder, there will be no games this Sunday, December 29th, as we take a break for the holiday season. We hope you enjoy this special time with family and friends and make the most of the celebrations.

We’ll see you back on the ice, refreshed and ready to go, on Sunday, January 5th, 2025.

Cheers to a wonderful holiday season!

Drama & Intensity

Last Sunday’s games brought plenty of drama and intensity. Platinum pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind win, edging Nelson 3-2. Hollowbrook narrowly escaped with a 5-4 victory over Triple J. OUTCAN rallied late to secure a 2-2 tie with Ace. The night, however, started on a sour note, as OS Offices were forced to forfeit to AMOS after an illegal use of subs derailed their matchup.

Sunday Showdowns Deliver Thrills

Last Sunday featured an exciting slate of matchups. The night kicked off with Triple J overpowering Platinum 6-3. Ace then fell to OS Offices 5-1 in a fun and competitive game. World Orphans kept the momentum going with a solid 4-2 win over AMOS. In the highest-scoring game of the night, Nelson outgunned OUTCAN 9-6 to close out the action.

With the upcoming games this Sunday, we’ll hit the one-third mark of what’s shaping up to be an exciting and competitive season!
